Sao Joao

6/24/2009
I believe i would rank things seginte, you have tradition here (place hand
about waist level)....then you have brasil (place hand maid ou menos eye nível).
In fact I´m pretty sure my favorite qoute for the week would halfta be that of
our recent convert Arthur´s ´´CORRE ELDERS, CORRE!!!´´ As a busca pé came
screaming down the street, exploding somewhere behind us. Awesome sigh....
remember: saftey first kids!

Any good fireworks planned at home for this forth of july?
Today, yesterday and pretty much this intire week, the city of Estância has
turned into an inferno. Everyone has a giant bondfire out side of there house,
including grandmas. The festivities of São João are just crazy, there was even
like a pretty horse day a few weeks ago. Never thought i´d see a horse wearing
lipstick.
We helped a family paint their Lanchente this week which was a blast.
Unfortunantley at the end we realised that our lader wouldn´t be tall enough
to reach everything. Luckly brasilian thinking got to ladders strong together
in the most inefficient and hazardous was possible to complete the job, lol.
Just looking at the contraption had us draw straws to see who would go up,
and the jpb fell upon our member friend who coincidentally is afraid of heights.
Wachting him tremble, about halfway through i told him i´d trade him places and
finish the job. All in all the paint job looks excellent and we´ll prolly go
back soon to add some color.
Does anyone remember Pogs and that fad? Does anyone still have any?
Futebol sexta-feira was thought to be a fall out because of the rain
throughout the day. But naturally members and non members a like came out
for a pick up game. Unfortunantly the quadra was pretty increddbly wet
because of the rain, and so i squiggied the intire thing for about 30 minutes
with some others before we started. It all seem well worth it for about 15
minutes until it just started raining again, awesome. As ridiculas as the
entire situation already was i think our will to keep playingin the rain just
for bragging rights was prolly one of the best things ever. Agnaldo (a
recent convert of the sisters, who has a decent belly) is actually pretty
good a futebol and after scoring a solid goal in the pouring rain, turns
around and runs into a full out victory belly slide that takes him across
half the court. It was incredible! Lol
Speaking of Agnaldo he turned out to be a life saver Saturday when the
President told us the baptismal font wouldn´t fill. Saying a scilent prayer
and listening to my comp tell the president that this baptism would happen
today one way or another, a thought came to me, ´´Agnaldo has a new pool!!!´´
We call him up and he told us we could give it a look. 4 hours later crammed
under a pavilian to escape the light rain, the baptism started and was carried
out despite the freezing water in the tank. My heart truely was over flowing
with joy just to see how many members came, even in the rain, to the baptism.
Keep in mind no one has cars, so all that ment walking in the down pour.
Undoubtedly this is how we are to go about building Zion, by construsting a
family, then community and so one, around the principles of charity.
I´m not sure how many of you have seen the movie Defeating Giants, but it
had me thinking about giving the best of ourselfves this week. I think giving
the best of ourselves goes beyond what we think we can do. We all know what
we want to do, and then wat we could do (which is lke a little more) and
then there´s what we doen´t even realise we have potential to do. The last
part all starts with not thinking about ourselves in order to give a 110%.

Be Happy with what you do, But not satisfied,
Elder Neuberger
