Well the beginning of my letter was gunna start out with something like, ´´Does any one know if the Frieberges have moved or something?´´ because i have been dying here waiting to here from them. But, seeing as how i received a castle of a package from them to day (of which i will never be able to thank them enough for) i guess all start off with something else lik...
I THOUGHT OF THE COOLEST COMPANY/OR RESTAURANT NAME EVER: Badminton: home of the world´s fastest service! .....(get it?)
Any ways lol,
This week confirmed the fact that i will morrer in an area
without bikes that just happens to be the biggest area in Maceió. And
for sure the sun is a hot here and b gets up about an hour earlier
waking me up promptly at 5:20ish everyday. Cool fun fact though, in
certain parts it has the distinct smell o silky´s in the winter when
thee´s no one there. But back to the dying part i think the best proof
of this was coming home one night and planing the next day as usual. We
get done and casually say our companionship prayer. I then take th
two second walk to the fridge, grab my water bottle an return only to find
my comp right were i left him asleep on the floor- i turned of the
lights and went to bed.
FUN FACT: three couples from our ward will be sealed in the temple
this year. My goal is to start creating th list for net year in my
time here. in doing so my new strategy is to envision Cristo embracing
everyone i talk to. I realize sometimes it almost impossible not to
judge ppl at first glance, but this is my new way of breaking such a horrible habit.
Prolly the coolest thing of the week was making a contact with a
lay who blew us off but told us to talk to a group of ppl seated across the street. Well alright we thought and as we started walking over there my
comp was like, ´´First lesson?´´ ok i said and thus we started giving a
first lesson to a group of 10 ppl that grew to 12 on some steps. It
was truly a very cool, bold, and fun experience. In fact everything was
going great as my comp asked a lay to read James 1:5 because she ha a
bibl in her hand, however she suddenly handed it to an approaching man
as my comp asked. That's when i realized we whee just a stones throw away
from a closed church. The pastor who grabbed the book then told us he
would love to talk to us if we came back the next day. We happily
replied ´´yes of course´´ However i was said when he never showed up he
following day. Either way however, the lesson proved to me that the
Spirit can truly testify at all times and places
Yesterday marked the first day i actually cooked a lunch for
myself on the mission. And yes it was awesome- a little Macarrão Nada.
random was as we were making everything we realized that we didn´t have
a can opener, the problem of which was quickly resolved with a knife.
What caught me by surprise was my brasy comp´s reference to Maguiver from
out of no where. i was like What? Maguiver? and he was like yeah, the
guy known for doing nearly impossible things along with Chuck Norris an
Rambo. Wow, high five to being cultured.
This was, of course, fast an testimony. All of the young men in
ou ward did a great job of bearing testimony and afterwards a lady got
up and started telling a story of staining her husbands favorite shirt.
I started to be worry that her testimony would be somewhere around the idea
of saying a prayer to clean th stain but i was utterly surprised by how
well she turned it into the idea of forgiveness. She talked about more
than just repentance for sins but also how through Christ our other perceptions can be solved (just as character attributes; selfishness and
such)
The entire thing got my thinking about how one gains a
testimony. In my study i came across some pretty cool things, starting
with Matthew 16:17 stating, `´And Jesus answered and said unto him,
Blessed art thou, Simon aBar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not brevealed it
unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven´´ I love how this scripture
shoes the importance of faith over fact. Then i came across three
great quotes. Unfortunately i can´t remember the one by Bruce r
McConkie but it talked about the importance of daily reading and study
to build constant faith. Then Elder Oaks, ´´Knowledge encourages obedience, obedience enhances knowledge´´ echoed by Elder Hales saying,
´´It will be revealed according to your obedience and desires.´´ So it
is strongly by our obedience which i know is also the best way to show and
prove our love to Heavenly Father, i would then add consistent fasting
and prayer as said in 3 Nephi 18:29. John 7:17 also brings out great
importance. But as my time is running out i would just stress the
importance of Knowing that our Heavenly Father has restored the truths of
our gospel on this earth in our latter days. Gaining a testimony of
such things is more valuable than you could ever know or imagine. An
once you have grasped such a concept always remember to never deny you
testimony but sprea it as much as possible. Read Joesph Smith
history1:24-25 and remember, always trust your car to the man with the
star :-)
