Well i think my comps a little upset with me right now all because (after
an entire p-day´s morning of practice) i´ve learned to do a futebol trick
´´only he knows.´´ It´s pretty cool tho, i can pop the ball up like two feet
in just one backwards motion. hard to explain buti´ll try and attatch a
video we took of an average one. (PS don´t watch it to many times or it may
begin to look easy)
But to more important News,
I´m pretty sad to see this transfer come to an end. As i´ve been saying
here, this transfer has just ewvaportated from underneath me and i can´t figure
out where all the time has gone. Its pretty much garenteedmy companion will
ahead to Maceió this transfer seeing as how he´s been here for 6 months já.
Personaly i expect to stay here for another transfer, and ppl tell me i will
but.....we´ve seen how thats gone in the past.
We´ll have 2 baptisms this week, that ipm very excited for. Both are member
referals (hint hint) and are great. However i am definantly partiual (i dunno
how to spell anymore sorry) to one, José Paulo a midle aged man woh just moved
here from São Paulo. The man is just gobbling up information from both words
and books. With week in church he asked how soon he could get his own copy
of both the Priesthood and Principles of the Gospel manual to start reading.
But nothing compares to the excitement he brought to our first lesson a few
weeks ago. For those of you who don´t know the order is God loves us,
prophets, Jesus Chirst´s minastry, JoesphSmith, The Book of Mormon (roughly)
(and depending on your comp) for thge first lesson. Well we start talking
about Heavenly Father blessing family´s and move into Prophets. My companion
just starts explaining how we have a living prophet on the earth right now
when José Paulo (who cannot decide if he want to be called José or irmão
Paulo) Stops him and says, ´´What!? we have a living prophet on the earth
today?´´ I wish i could better remember the rest to convie to you the
excitment of such a discovery. It really makes a life time member of the
church look down and wonder if we relize how blessed we are to have a prophet
and, yes, he speaks with and recieves guidance and revalation from God.
He´s is a mouth pece to know exactly what we need to do to prepare to return
to our heavenly Father on this earth. Well....the lesson went on and every
time we asked José if he believe this or that he loved to play u by first
saying´´...well i dunno guys´´ and then putting a big Brazy smile on and
saying yes. Nothing however compared to the spirit that came after teach
about the restoration and asking him if he believed God does and will answer
prayers. This time there was no playing around as tears came to his eyes
and he said yes, sem duvida, that God answers prayers, ´´Cause 2 months ago
i asked to be able to find the truth and here i am now thanks to the friends
i´´m surrounded by´´ he said, as he turned to Patricia our awesome memeber
(who happens to be the same one that got to see me cry while cutting onions
in her house) At this point no one really had words and honestly i can´t
remember how we even finished the lesson, but we got there and asked to
say a closing prayer. Never ever in my experiences so far has a new
investigator felt comfortable offering a prayer in front of us on the first
visit and with 2 other members there we felt pretty comfortable by just
sayin hecould choose one of thefor of us present to say a closing prayer.
Well, ipm sure you´ve beaten me there, but i was out of energy to be surprised
when José paulo responded with, ´´would it be ok if isaid the prayer´´
...um....Absolutley NOT! Please go for it. Lookin back i just remembe i
actually wasn´t even with my comp that day because as a LD he had to do a
split with E Gillette which left me with E Vasconselas (who is a transfer
behind me). The entire experience had me not only counting my blessings for
the ability to find José (Paulo) but also for all the blessingshe had reminded
me of in our short 40minute encounter.
Well not to much else happened this week. Did an uplifting split with a
LZ Monday and then came here to Lagarto for a baptisamal interview so i
haven´t been home much.
Early i mentioned Prophets and revalation. Interesting, Joesph smith said
exaltation cannotcome except through revalation and PMG goeson to tell us
(at least in Português) Dues esta asioso para apoiar-lo. (O man i can´t
communicate through either languege right now while typingin english and
listening to português around me) But that translates to God is CRAVING
to support us. Then in the bible dictionary we read, (and i quote)
´´Revalation is one of the grandest consepts and priciples of the Gospel
of Jesus Christ, for without it, man could not know of the things of God
and could not be saved with any degree of salvationfor the eternities.
.....woah.... its also interesting to note that the word revalation comes
from the greek word apocalypse (Liz-E may arleady know that) and means to
make known or uncover. As a missionary its important to realize your in
titled to recieve relationa for your area and pasquisdors. But better
yet (to me) is the idea of the future opportuinity to recieve relation as
a dad for an eternal family. I tihnk this is just more proof of the need,
no, necissaty to live worthly of the ompanion ship of the holy ghost.
As the 4th artical of fith says, it all start with faith. Please remember
to pray and lookfor one miracle a day to be thankful for (even if its just
your car starting in the morning) Even herein Brasil i think there are
still so many things i take for grant it.
I love you all and thank you for every word i hear from you. SMILE!
E Neuberger
