Eveyone else on the move?
Today was the quad zone activity a the chacara of the Flamengo. I
havn´t been there in like a year and it was so much different going and
actually knowing ppl plus being able to talk to brazys. A guy from BH
(an old area of mine showed up an even recognized me and remembered my
name (tho i didn´t remember his) Told me how cool it was to see me and
that he even has pictures for me, CRAZY!
Also very cool was finding out this week that the family i left in Estancia was baptised todinho!
Awemoseness was walking into the office last week and seeing my
favorite Brazy dressed in a MIzzou t-shirt. Thats wats up my friends,
rock it.
Gotta love how american packages bring out the questions in
brazys. Some of my favorite from my comp were; What is a toaster, Why
would silver tape ever be so great, Are you sure this wiffle ball is
going to break the moment i through it and how the heck do you open
this air heads rapper? lol, love him.
As for my area things are going great. We took a family to
church on Sunday and having a teaching pool about ten ppl strong (which
is great considering we started from practically zero.) We should in
fact start baptising as soon as next week if all goes right (cross
fingers and knock on wood)(better yet, PRAY). One of the home we teach
in always has lizards falling from the ceiling which is odd. But i
guess they get attracted to the light like a bug an then without wings
end up falling cause its so hot. But regardless of why, my comp are on a
roll with have a lizard fall 1 per lesson.
Yesterday on a division out to Vicosa (midle of nowhere Alagoas)
i had a pretty cool experience. Me and E Periera where running back
home to catch the ca back to Maceio when some guys stopped us.
Naturally when someone stops you they have a ton of questions and this
was no exception. Luckly i love answering questions, prolly my favorite
way to teach quite honestly, and so we quickly got rapped up into discussion. As we neared the end (having long sense forgot about our car
ride home) they unfortunately told us that they didn´t actually live in
town. So where do they live? Turns out they live in ......my area back
in Maceio!!! I then asked one of them, so why are you here today
então? And he responded, ´´Well, i think it was God´s doing/will
now...´´ Nossa!!! Wow!!! i was so blown away that when he then told me
as a confirmation of where the Capel is located (which he explained
exactly) i couldn´t help but throw my hands in the ai and shout ´´o
Gloria´´ lol. Its those kinda things that obviously arn´t coincidences.
Coming back to Maceió and especially from being in Viçosa
yesterday, i realize i´ve forgotten how humble humble truly is. To think that these ppl have no idea whatits like out side of a 50 mile
radious, and have obsolutley no thoughts of ever getting a chance to
leave is just min blowing. Back home it somtimes feels like we get
caught up in thinking about when ourt next trip is or break an when we´re
gunna be able to really get away. But here just the idea of being able
to move out of the cane fiels and into macieo will sometimes get you
laughed at. And yet worry about what kinda of car we have. Some of
these ppl are more considered about there nxt meal or where theyre hoping to sleep with something over their heads.
Not that earning and working hard doesn´t mean that you don´t
then deserve what you have. But do you take a minute every once in a
while to actually look around? This week i realized i dind´t know what
the word for yard was in portugues, and still not having looked it up i
wonder if it even exists. It would be such a foreign idea to actually
own land like that that i´m not sure it does. So just remember to be
grateful the next time you pull into your dive way, or even when your
complaining about having to cut that grass because your quit frankly
privileged to have such. And i´m so grateful that all of you are
truly blessed, but i just hope no one eve forgets it nor forgets to
thank The One who gave it all to you every once in a while.
You guys are all great, help a friend with their biggest fear this week! Luv ya
