Well...ripped my pants hoping into a taxi this week, in a less than convient
area. Luckly its wasn´t to big tomatter but in the words of a Brazilian Rachel
Fisher, ´´Que Azar...!´´ Awkward part was we were already halfway to our baptism
...oops.
How´s St Louis? Or where ever you live? (i know my family doesn´t seem to live
in stlouis anymore)
Most ridiculas thing of the week: We had lunch so far away this week that it
took 50 minutes to walk there. Prolly would been smart to take a bus but... we
both you and your companion are out of money waiting for reanbursements, thats
not always an option. Anyways my curiosity got the best of and so one the way
back (in the crudest manner ever) i tore a peice of paperand put it in my pocket
every 100 steps. 5518!!! We figureit was about 5 km então. Best part was, the
next day, lunch in the exact same lugar......yeah, my calves are awesome. Fun
Fact: saw my first monkey during one of those lunched. She just caually swung
in thehouse from the gap where the wall meets the ceil\ling and climbed across
the ceiling for a bit. It was awesome, tho i thinki was the only excited one
there.
Circus is in town this week and therehave been free concertslike every night
right outsideout house so sleeps been less than par. Howeveri finally got an
amazing sleep last night and then this morning waswierded out when i wokeup
thinking in português and couldn´t stop. Convient tho becuase a member stopped
by about 2 seconds after i got up.
I think my favorite (cheesy) EFY song quote this week is, ´´Its was you live
that makes you beautiful´´
Anyway, lol, looking up at what i´ve written so far....nothin seems so flow
very well. Lets see what we can do with the resto.
While going to fill up the baptismal font this week me and my companion where
just overjoyed to find that noone had drained the font sense the last baptism.
Better yet was the fact that the drain (which is a pump) wouldn´t turn on. I
was busy doing something else and so for twenty minutes the problem was being
solved by my comp, or in other words ´´a Brazilian.´´ I kept hearing the sound
of water empting out into wat i figureed was a sink, maybe he was drainingit
bucket by bucket. However when i finally when to check theprogress i came to
discover the wonderful master plan he had developed was a plastic cup on the
end of a broom which he was using to filter/strain the bichos out of the
water. lol, Ok i realized it was a good effort and all but...come on, the
Elder Reis is no Pool Attendant Phill. From the american view my first idea
was to check the circut breakers. Sure enough Fonte Baptisimal was flipped
off. The result being a much cleaner font that night.
Both Paulo and Eveline where baptised this week, with a great ward turn out.
Even thebishop was there, which as my comp said, was a small miracle with as
much as he works. He,the bishop, also gave the message at thebaptism. He
talked about all the things baptism signafies figuratively and sigificantly.
Truthfully i wish i could have written this email in the moment, the spirit
was just so strong. Its interesting, seeing the two enter the water i can´t
help but wonder, ´´have i done all that i can to prepare them for this? do
they truely understand the commitments they´re making? The Covanents they
are taking apon themselfves?´´
And then of course there are those who no matter how much you prepare them
you just can´t seem to get them into the waters of baptism. However Kassio,
a man E Reis was teaching before i even arrived last transfer, helped me
realizes how greatful i am for the Book of Mormon this past week. Stopping
by his house one day i was over joyed at the ability we have to just answer
questions by say ´´wel lets open to the Book of Mormon.´´ I tihnk those are
my favorite messages too, the ones that are just on the spot to answer
questions of the soul. And then....you end with a prayer.
I have grown to love the opportunity to and power of more and more
exponentially through this past two years. Back in college, ward prayer was
just wonderful, then we had dorm prayer, and of course mom´s always been good
with family prayer. Now, with growning faith and love of my Heavenly Father,
i have the oppotunity to get on my knees every morning night or any other
time during the day to pray ith my companion or sozinho, for help personally
and more importantly for others. Its a thing marvelous and completely priceless.
Something i´ve recognized here tho is the extreme need to listen for answers.
We always say to ´´continue withaprayerin your heart´´ but do we understand
what that means? For me, i think its better said ´´to continue pondering in
your heart´´ keeping your thoughts intune with the spirit as to better
recognize when you come upon an answer. Just another part of the Gospel
that could neverbe stressed enough.
I hope everyone continues in greatness and gratitude. I´m so excited to
be in Socorro for atleast on more month. Just talking to a member last night
and seeing the anxioty to help church grow in this area got me so pumped.
Interesting fact, they want to make they´re own stake here in Socorro, and
trying so hard to make it happen. I just hope i can do enough to to help
with that.
I love Each of you Individually for the special trates you hold,
E Neuberger
