Puxa, What a Week!

9/2/2009
I think my comp my be a little upset that i just made him walk all the way back
home from the lan house, but i promise that makes for a better email. Win win
situation for you all.

PS, i don´t think i can trust a man named Fabio.......weird right, lol

Everyone feliz back home?
Loads happened this week and i hope i´m able to translate all the joy to you
guys in this short amount of time. Travis didn´t write me this week so i guess
that will give me more time sense i won´t be pouring my heart out to him, (and
i´ll just cry about it later instead).
  Thank you all in Frontenac for your warming letters. IN response to a few;
Sarah Adams and the LArson boys have a great sense of humor. And in answer to
their questions I eat rice and beans every every day with out fail and my
favorite food is fruit and the vitamins i make. Also dno´t worry i don´t wear
a suit down here, heck, i don´t even wear long sleeves.
Lastly, Yes Sara Bailey, i love you too.
Having four missionaries in Estancia now is pretty cool. The new kid gave the
exact same first message that i did on the mission. The only difference was
that he knows portuguese so.....he actually explained it afterwards. As for
my comp, he´s pure awesome sauce. And more importantly we havn´t locked our
selves out of the house yet, unlike the 7 times we did that last transfer.
Some incredibly sad news tho is that it turns out the bikes truly did make
a huge difference here. I´ve had to revamp my planing in fact. A member this
week told us the Cidade Novo actually stays about 6-8 km away from our house
(that's a hour walk for me and about a hour and a half for my comp who has
knee trouble occasionally) Needless to say, holy junk in my trunk! has been
sore ever sense. aka i´m so not use to walking. (random fact: if i have one
more comp on the mission who tels me i was fat before i got to brasil i will
kill myself)
Luckily one of the coolest things ever happened Friday. We were starting
the walk from Bom Fim to the Cidade Novo, when all of a sudden a car stopped
beside us and said the pleasing words of, Wanna ride? ummm....YES!!! Turns
out the only connection these ppl had to the church as that they'd talked to
missionaries once before, aka they were just really nice ppl who drop off
cleaning supplies to ppl and happened to be headed in the same direction.
So we made a few stops with them alonjg the way and by the time we got to the
Cidade novo they had put a bag of cleaning supplies together for us and bought
us a snack (including chocolate milk)., We naturally refused all of it
(prolly a total of 20 R$) but they insisted. So walking with all this in
hand i had the sweet idea to pass by Dany´s house, a onde we left everything
we´d gained. It was awesome to see how it made her day, and then of course
made mine in return.
Got stopped by the police on the way to Aracajú this week.....always have
your ID on you! that´´s all i´ll say about that.
Anyways in other news this transfer looks like its going to be incredible.
To give you an idea let me just tell you about yesterday. Ã returned
missionary got back in the Ward and we left with him. He told us about a
family reference he had for us. Earlier on in the day we saw a member in
the center who also had a family reference for us (premarried). Later that
night as we past by one of our investigators Holmes we finally encountered
her entire family at home, and they´re all excited to go to church on Sunday.
And prolly the best was earlier on that day when we went to follow up with
a lady who had gone to church Sunday. As we went through the lesson she
continually showed her faith in Christ. Saying that she would give her all
in trying to complete all the mondamentos. Not gunna lie she prollly has
with all most every commandment. But the thing is she´s willing to put forth
all her effort. Continuing with the lesson she told us house she had been
praying at work for something to come along and change her life.
Now i dont want anyone to think that i was the answer to her pray, cause
that would be completly false. But the church is. I just happen to to be
lucky enough to be a tool in God´s hands. I think that's why service is so
important, cause you never know when your gunna be the answer to someones
prayers. In fact President Kimball said, ´´God really observes us and
protects us, but it is generally by way of an other que He attends to our
needs thus it is of vital importance that we serve one another.´´ (roughly
translated from Portuguese.) How cool is that! A common back up scripture
to that would be Mosias 2:17?, i think, and though i would encourage you to
read that, i would also like to direct your attention to Mosias 18:8-10.
Stop pause read. Do you realize how our baptismal covenants include being
of service to others? And its not like its always work. Sometimes service
simply means sharing your talents, actually i´m pretty sure thats why we
have most of our talents- to enlighten others with them. PMG says´´The c
hurch needs all the talents a abilities of every member to fill the great
variety of callings. Doing this increases our faith, builds us new talents
and a great capacity to serve e receive innumerable other blessings.´´
  .....nuff said?
Smile, the Lords blessed you with many talents. Now go out and use them.
In closing i didn´t think it would ever stop raining and all though it was
trunky at first i kinda got sick of the rain every single moment. Now its
making sol and it makes my think of being home because i feel like the last
time i felt sun was last last summer with all of you. O well, i love it here.
